Ignite Tech Sales by Choosing the Right Events

With CES in Las Vegas coming up, let’s talk events and how to make them worth your time!

Hi!

Welcome to Sparksense's Newsletter! Every month, I personally bring insights to fuel your sales strategies, drive business growth, and succeed on your entrepreneurial journey. My focus is clear: to equip our engaged 1000+ subscribers with actionable takeaways. Anticipate valuable advice on prospecting, smart selling, and sealing deals that matter for Deep Tech Entrepreneurs!

This month, with WEB SUMMIT, SLUSH behind us and CES in Las Vegas coming up, let’s dive into the topic of events.

As an engineer, I'm inherently skeptical, but perhaps the most memorable moment was the first outreach from Sparksense. I was engaged in the same way I want my clients to be engaged, individually, with technical acumen and enthusiasm.

Did Events generate Qualified Leads for your startup?
Don’t waste any more of your time.

As a budding entrepreneur, you recognize that stepping out of the office is essential for building a relevant network. Attending the right events can propel your startup toward success, enabling it to thrive and efficiently achieve its business goals. However, it's disheartening how much time entrepreneurs often waste attending the wrong events.

When selecting events, be mindful of the following pitfalls:

1️⃣ Being in the Spotlight: Avoid events solely focused on startups that might distract from real market challenges.

2️⃣ Comfort Zone: Step outside your comfort zone; don't just attend events where you know you have an edge.

3️⃣ The Booth Curse: Having a booth can be a curse for startups; consider walking the floor and engaging with people instead.

4️⃣ Free Events: If it's free, be cautious – you might be the product. Some events are primarily financed through sponsors scouting for innovation.

5️⃣ Escaping Reality: Events should not be an escape from business challenges; face reality and use events as a tool, not a distraction.

4 Steps to Make the Most Out of Your Event

To maximize your event experience, consider these strategies:

1️⃣ Selective Participation: Challenge the need to join specific events; seek qualitative assessments and peer recommendations.

2️⃣ Prioritize Business Questions: Stay focused on key business questions and challenges; resist the temptation to attend events solely because they're free or you have a pitching slot.

3️⃣ Optimize Liquidity: Consider walking the show instead of renting a booth; book a nearby demo room for a cost-effective alternative.

4️⃣ Post-Event Follow-Up: Conduct a thorough and timely post-event follow-up to extract real value and signal an execution-focused approach.

Navigating the startup event landscape can be challenging, given the lack of transparency and information. As an entrepreneur, the imperative need for exposure to peers, customers, partners, or investors should guide your judgment in selecting the few events that truly matter for your startup's journey. Choose wisely and make the event count for your startup's success!

Tool of the month: Follow-up after each Event with AIRCALL

Attending conferences and trade shows alone doesn't guarantee success; you need an effective system to reach out to prospects and create lasting impressions. This month, I'm spotlighting Aircall as a key player in extending our reach and fostering communication excellence.

While events create a buzz and provide valuable face-to-face interactions, relying solely on them isn't enough. You need a robust system to carry the momentum forward. Aircall serves as our communication backbone, enabling us to:

  • Aircall seamless integration with your CRM System: call contacts, capture insights and notes directly within your CRM e.g. Hubspot

  • Follow-Up Effectively: Aircall's call analytics help us understand attendee needs, allowing for personalized and effective post-event follow-ups.

  • Extend Buzz Beyond the Venue: Aircall's integration ensures that the buzz generated at events transcends physical boundaries.

  • Enhance Prospect Engagement: With Aircall we're actively engaging with prospects, nurturing relationships, and turning leads into valued connections.

Events serve as launchpads for opportunities, but without a reliable system to nurture and extend these connections, the buzz fizzles out. Aircall, integrated into our business strategy, ensures that engagement translates into lasting business relationships.

Entrepreneurs tackled key Sales Topics, among them how to build a qualified pipeline, managing leads and pricing for Proof of Concept in pilot projects and recurring business.

  • At the PIC Europe Summit, we engaged in discussions at Europe's most influential event in the photonic chip industry, with over 400 visitors from more than 20 countries in Eindhoven.

  • Formnext in Frankfurt allowed us to explore novel solutions across the entire process chain of additive manufacturing and industrial 3D Printing. Our team connected with leading & emerging tech players. Synera showcased its Process automation for engineering software to speed up product development. Advanced analytics for materials and machine vision are used for real-time layer-by-layer monitoring as FX10 by Markforged.
