So what’s your Ideal Customer Profile?

Creating your ICP is crucial for guiding your sales strategy. I think of it as the treasure map to find your ideal customers. Your goal should be to forge a stronghold in a niche, igniting a momentum that resonates. Are you ready to get out of the building and talk to potential customers? Here's how I would proceed:

  1. Identify Your Target Audience:  Find companies experiencing the problems your solution solves. Are they OEM's? Integrators? End users?

  2. Pick your industries: Understand the characteristics of the companies you're targeting. What defines them? What do they have in common?

  3. Locate Decision-Makers: Find the people with the authority to say yes to your solution. Engage early with potential Champions for your solution.

  4. Define a valuable use case: Which application is most meaningful? What is the economic impact of NOT solving the problem? What can you solve today?

  • Enjoy the side roads: Talk to Industry Associations or distributors. Explore!

  • Be Precise: Sharpen your focus. Craft a specific ICP to match clear potential.

  • Stay Focused: Don't cast too wide a net. Concentrate on a manageable segment for better results. Only then proceed to the next ICP.

  • Adapt as Needed: Your ICP will evolve with your business.
